On the war in Palestine

For Palestinian military victory and self-determination
against Israel and the US imperialism!

 

On October 7, 2023, Hamas (the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement) launched a surprise operation against Israel called ‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’. Israel immediately responded with a massive bombardment of Gaza and ground troops.

We recognize the legitimacy of the Palestinian Arab people's struggle against the longstanding “imperialist oppression, super-exploitation, economic and geographical blockade, military tyranny, and ethnic contempt” imposed by the U.S. imperialism and its local minion state, Israel. This struggle of Palestinian Arab is similar to the armed struggle for national liberation of Korean during the Japanese colonization. We support the military victory of the Palestinian Arab people, regardless of who leads this struggle. We also support the Palestinian people's right to national self-determination as a right of emergency refuge from imperialist and Israeli state oppression.

Suffering of the Palestinian people

The Palestinian Arab people have long been oppressed by Israel. The Arab people of the Middle East and Palestine have been occupied and super-exploited by the world's two most powerful imperial powers, British-US imperialism. Israel, founded with the overwhelming military and economic support of imperialism, has been used as a local enforcer to carry out their interests.

In the meantime, the Palestinian Arab people were forced to endure harsh and confined lives within the limited territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. When Palestinians were tired of the hellish harassment and fled to Jordan, Lebanon, and elsewhere, Israel expanded its territory by building so-called ‘settlements’ on the ‘empty land’.

The future of Palestinian children and youth is only ashen. Decent childcare and education are only luxuries to them. They do not have the freedom to develop their talents and dream of a beautiful future. Where dreams are gone, vengeances take their place. ‘It's better to die fighting rather than just die’.

‘Reckless’ operations and ‘innocent’ civilians

From a military perspective, the prevailing view is that the Hamas-led raid was reckless. As it can be seen now, Hamas is militarily overwhelmed by Israel which is backed by the superpower, the US. But just as even earthworms squirm when stepped on, this counterattack is a reaction and a struggle of the Palestinian people who are on the brink of death. The British-US imperialism and Israel have been strangling the Palestinian people for a long time, and a strangled opponent can only resist in any way possible. We recognize that resistance as a just self-defense for life and honor.

The imperialist media accuses Palestinian militants of indiscriminately attacking civilians, but the Palestinian Arab people do not have the sophisticated and powerful weapons which the US and Israel have. They do not have the capacity to attack while distinguishing soldiers and civilians and still win. Meanwhile, imperialists have carried out massive massacres and detentions of civilians in Palestine and elsewhere in the world with impunity, but the imperialist media has shamelessly turned a blind eye to the innocent deaths of colonized peoples around the world, even now.

And the Israeli “settlers” who have been closing in on Palestinian Arab neighborhoods are the direct beneficiaries of Palestinian expulsions and settlement expansion. Not only that, but they are also active agents of Israel's ethnic oppression.

Here's what we said about this in 2021.

“Being a tribune to all oppressed people, the socialist-oriented world working class will never tolerate the sacrifice of innocent people. However, if the people who serve as supporters of imperialism confront the anti-imperialist national liberation struggle, we recognize that the retribution against them is justified. Only the working people in oppressing countries, actively fighting for the liberation of the oppressed people against their own invader government, would be considered on the same side. We consider them the only innocent citizens who have nothing to do with imperialism. Secession and National self-determination

Early on, Lenin likened the right of self-determination of oppressed peoples to the right to divorce. Marxists defend the right of people, whether individuals or groups, to leave unhappy relationships and become independent. We defend the right of national self-determination of oppressed peoples.

We advocate for the immediate independence of the Palestinian people from imperialist oppression. The division of the land of Palestine according to population proportions and the establishment of an independent state of Palestinian Arabs on one part of the lands could be considered as a way to achieve this.

Permanent revolution and general disadvantages for imperialism

But the hellish conditions that working people live in many parts of the world today, including ethnic conflicts, are caused by capitalism and imperialism. The separation of territory and state can only temporarily alleviate ethnic oppression, but it cannot fundamentally solve the problems created by the system of private ownership.

Only when imperialism is defeated in every corner of the world through the resistance of the working people and the establishment of workers' states and a socialist world system will all evil be rooted out. The material foundations of all ethnic conflicts, including the Palestinian Arabs and the Israelis, will be destroyed.

The current war in the Palestinian territories will be one more event that will accelerate the general disadvantage of imperialism and the general advantage of the working class. The defeat of imperialism in this region will accelerate the victory of the world working class. It will be a very important step towards the end of class society.

—No political support for Hamas, but for the military victory of the Palestinian Arab people against imperialism!

—Support the Secession and self-determination of the Palestinian Arab people!
